چکیده

conclusions lower extremity movement extent was carefully evaluated and, in respect to muscle strength, the patient was able to walk independently three months after the surgery. the patient’s balance was studied and the results showed moderate levels of stability. case presentation this is a case report concerning a patient who had septic arthritis in the knee area and so underwent soft tissue surgery. the reconstruction methods were not the same for both knees as the lateral distal thigh island flap reparation method was used on the left knee and the medial head gastrocnemius flap method was utilized on the right. we then investigated the results and outcomes of the surgery three months later. introduction septic arthritis is the rheumatological and orthopedic emergency that causes the most difficulties with joints–especially knee and hip joints. the clinical symptoms include pain, swelling, inflammation, stiffness, and a limited range of motion in both active and passive joints. debridement of the necrotic tissue is one beneficial method for septic arthritis treatment, although soft tissue defects around joints are a challenging issue for surgeons. our purpose was to investigate the consequences of two flap surgery methods undertaken to repair soft tissue damaged during knee joint debridement caused by septic arthritis.

Reverse Lateral Supramalleolar Adipofascial Flap: A Case Report

Achieving adequate coverage of soft tissue defects located on the lower third of the legs and feet is challenging for reconstructive surgeons. Fasciocutaneous flaps can be used to meet this challenge. Two common fasciocutaneous flaps used in this context are the reverse sural flap and lateral supramalleolar flap (LSMF). Plastic and reconstructive surgeons are relatively unfamiliar with the seco...

Lateral thigh free flap in head and neck reconstruction.

To understand the role of the lateral thigh flap in head and neck reconstruction, we performed injection studies and anatomic dissections in 2 fresh and 61 preserved cadaver extremities followed by 10 clinical cases involving defects after tumor ablation. The flap, based on the third perforator of the profunda femoris artery, is designed on the posterolateral aspect of the distal thigh. The ped...

Reconstruction of lateral forefoot using reversed medial plantar flap with free anterolateral thigh flap.

Skin defects of the heel have frequently been reconstructed using the medial plantar flap; however, forefoot coverage has remained a challenge, because the alternatives for flap coverage have been very limited. We describe a case of malignant melanoma on the lateral forefoot that was radically removed and reconstructed successfully with a distally based medial plantar flap, together with a free...

Lateral Genicular Artery Flap for Reconstruction of a Large Knee Defect, Following Oncological Resection - Case Report.

This article presents the case of a 53 years old patient, with ulcerated and infected dermatofibrosarcoma, extended on the anterolateral side of the left knee. The postexcisional defect, exposing patella, was covered through a regional cutaneous flap of the distal third of the thigh, upper lateral genicular artery-based, measuring 20/10 cm, together with expanded free skin split grafts, applied...

Anterior lateral thigh osteomyocutaneous free flap reconstruction in the head and neck: The anterolateral thigh osteomyocutaneous femur bone flap.

BACKGROUND The anterolateral thigh (ALT) free flap is one of the most commonly used donor sites in head and neck reconstruction, however, it is not typically considered when an osseous component is needed. METHODS Soft tissue harvests, cadaveric study, and retrospective analysis of a series of 10 patients undergoing angiography were performed to assess vascular supply to the femoral cortex. I...
